What will happen if the air compressor is flooded?
Nov 02 , 2024

The following consequences may occur after the air compressor is flooded:

1.Lubricating oil emulsification: Water mixed with the lubricating oil inside the air compressor will cause lubricating oil emulsification, reduce lubrication efficiency, and increase the abrasion of parts.

2.Reduced equipment efficiency and damage: Condensate can carry the lubricating oil away from pneumatic equipment, resulting in reduced equipment efficiency or even damage.

3.Corrosion of pipelines and equipment: Condensate can also accelerate the wear of valves in pipelines, resulting in malfunction or misoperation of pneumatic control equipment; Rust of pipes and equipment.

4.Pipeline burst hazard: If water freezes at the low point of the pipeline, the pipeline is also in danger of bursting.

5.Affect the quality of spraying: If the compressed air used for spraying contains water mist, it will affect the adhesion of the coating on the workpiece, resulting in coating failure.

6.Rust of cylinder parts: The air compressor has been shut down for a long time, and the moisture generated by the exhaust air collects around the pipeline and check valve, resulting in the water flowing back to the inside of the chassis, causing rust of the cylinder valve plate and frame parts.

7.Incorrect oil level readings: The build-up of condensate in the crankcase can cause incorrect oil level readings.

8.Rapid deterioration of oil quality: Water and oil cannot be mixed, and their co-existence causes the oil to deteriorate quickly.

9.Corrosion of parts: The long-term non-drainage of the air compressor will lead to a great increase in the water content of the compressed air, causing corrosion of the parts.

10.Affect gas quality and post-treatment equipment: non-drainage will affect gas quality, and will also have a certain degree of impact on the post-treatment equipment that needs to use gas, such as the effect of the oil-gas separator becomes worse and the pressure difference becomes larger.

In order to avoid these consequences, it is very important to regularly inspect and maintain the air compressor and drain the condensate in a timely manner. At the same time, ensuring that the air compressor's drainage system is working properly, as well as considering slope and drainage measures when designing and installing pipes, are also key to preventing water ingress problems in air compressors.
